What 69 days in the Alps cost
The whole thing came to ₪24,239. Here is every line of it, including the ones I would rather not admit to.
I split the money into ten-day blocks, counting transport, food and lodging together. On average every ten days cost me about 600 euros. The further the route went, the more I spent. The days got longer, I wanted to treat myself more, and towards the end there was a kind of wear that made me stop paying attention to money at all. The whole breakdown: Food — ₪13,506. That is the big one, and it is the one I would not cut. Lodging — ₪2,276, for the 11 nights I slept in hotels and huts. Transport — ₪314. Replacing clothing — ₪3,624. Socks that tore, underwear, a rain suit, and a second pair of shoes. Flights — ₪2,224, out to Nice and back from Vienna. A fine I picked up before I flew — ₪1,240. eSIMs — ₪1,055. Most people will not need to spend anywhere near that. I needed the data to keep uploading the videos, and video is heavy. In total: ₪24,239. I will say up front that I have seen people do this for ₪15,000 and less. It comes down to experience — knowing what to buy, where to buy it, and how much you actually need to eat.
